So many of you expressed an interest in a beginner style Topic/Alcohol Marker course; so I have started to carve out something. I am by no means an expert but I will share my self-taught skills alongside some trial and error. Today we will be looking at what paper to use, I will be using the lawn fawn candy corn add on, its easy to color but gives a great demonstration, look at all the samples!
Let’s take a look at the video and then we can discuss some of the pictures a little more…
I got Mr HH to take this photo of the my top three papers in the selection, comic manga gives a nice soft effect but it takes a lot of practice IMHO, the Neenah is a great all round paper for stamping, copics, blending, etc. If you want a one size fits all for your carmdaking this is your pick. Xpress-it copic is great, it’s very very white though, I think it have been bleached.
Now for some comparisons, here you can see the difference in color between Xpress and Neenah, I do have a tendency to think he Xpress is too white, but it is great for blending and particularly if you are new to alcohol markers. The Comic numbers I used were: Y13, Y11, YR15 & YR16.
Next I have the two Bristol smooths side by side, I think it highlights how the different surfaces give you different colors even with he same markers.
Finally I have Xpress cardstock versus the comic manga, again you can see the color difference I feel the comic manga is much warmer…
Now of course a very quick supply list…
Thanks so much for stopping by today, I will be back tomorrow for another tutorial and some news, don’t forget to tune into the Facebook page at 11.30am EST for the Freebie Friday winners.
